Alarm bells, folks, alarm bells. Under the New Funding Model of the Global Fund, the main funding facility for HIV programs in the Philippines, the country has an allocation of USD10 million for the next three years, or roughly P143M annually. If you look at the rapidly rising incidence, from 2007 to Feb 2014, we have recorded a total of 12,731 Filipinos living with HIV. The treatment requirement for these new cases - and at some point they will need treatment, its really a question of when - costs about P382 million annually. So the question is - where are we going to get the money? And this is just for treatment alone...
