Alaska, Oregon and Washington D.C. are three more states to have legalized weed for recreational use following this midterm election. I dont smoke it or get stoned, but from a fiscal policy standpoint, it makes sense. Colorado Governor John W. Hickenlooper just proposed giving Coloradans a tax rebate because the revenue from legalizing weed has been so great for them. As cynical as it is for me to say, that move probably sped up the population growth in Denver, increased tourism to the state and is an economic benefit all the way around. The governor race in Colorado was decided by three points. If Beauprez would have won, he likely would have opposed the rebate to taxpayers and furthermore, tried to undo the initiative passed by the voters that brought in so much revenue. Its starting to make sense from an economic standpoint now. Colorado is perfecting it during a time when their economy is booming.
