Album of the Year. From the first week of May until the first - TopicsExpress

Album of the Year. From the first week of May until the first week in December, this was set in stone. Hamell on Trials The Happiest Man in the World was album of the year. Case closed. Interestingly, I was one of those who pre-funded the Hamell album on Kickstarter, and was privileged to be given my copy of the album by the man himself at the Billy Byrnes gig in Kilkenny, along with the plec he used at the gig. Last year, I became involved in another funding project, and that album came out at the start of this month. It happens to involve a number of friends of mine, which made me doubly happy to be a funder. I got the album the weekend it came out, and played in through several times in the car. The more I played it, the better it got, and as I tramped the roads of Letterkenny at 7.30 on Monday morning listening to it on my iTouch, I realised that Songs from the Lough Swilly Delta by little john nee and the Caledonia Highly Strung Orchestra is not just album of the year, its going to be one of the albums of the decade. John Nee, Cálamity Gín, Oddy Knocky and Jeremy Fitz Howard, take a collective bow, and thank you for allowing me say I played a very small part in helping to bring forth a masterpiece.
