Alec Baldwin is all over the news. He clearly has trouble with his irascible Irish temper, and his politics are appalling. But he has also renewed his commitment to his Catholic faith--I was present the other night when he was giving a talk for the priest who married him at the Basilica of St. Patricks Old Cathedral, and who baptized his baby daughter. So fun as it is to record his encounters with the media, lets also remember to pray for him. If he came around to a full embrace of the Church and all its teachings, including those relevant to public policy, it would be a great gain for the Church. Not to mention that it would benefit his rather turbulent soul.
