Alessio Tasca was born in Nove (Vicenza) in 1929, a village where ceramics have been produced since more than three hundred years. Ceramic production methods have always been mold, casting, lathe and by hand. Since 1968 Tasca starts a production of everyday objects using the die, new technique in the world of artistic ceramic, which was previously only used for the production of bricks and tiles. The first extruded shapes have an incredible success with critics and specialists in the industry for their significant innovation. In 1972 the Victoria and Albert Museum of London buys the Cornovaso and in 1980 the Coffee Service, the works are still on display in the section devoted to the Decorative Arts of the London Museum. The inventions resulting from the combination of Tasca and the die are absolutely original, in relation to the tradition and in relation to ideation of industrial design. It is evident in his creations the strong influence of what has been considered the main innovator artistic movement of the twentieth in a global context, the Bauhaus. The protagonists of the crucial work of Tasca is a basic material, the clay, selected from a deep knowledge of the characteristics and the resulting rendered during cooking, two machines, the die and the oven, and finally the hand.
