Alex Ferguson could help Manchester United sign Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester United officials will ask Sir Alex Ferguson to help bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. This has been reported by the Express, who have suggested that United chiefs believe their former manager could help persuade the Portuguese superstar back to the Theatre of Dreams. Special relationship Ronaldo and Ferguson, of course, had a fine relationship throughout Ronaldos six years at Manchester United. The Scotsman helped the players rapid rise on the footballing stage, and he could now prove a key factor in bringing Ronaldo back to the Premier League. It appears, then, that Uniteds former boss could help new Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal secure the signature of Ronaldo, but it remains to be seen as to whether United and Real can come to an agreement on the player who cost the Spanish giants £80 million in 2009. Huge deal The same report from the Express has suggested that Manchester United could spend as much as £60 million on their former hero. Its also suggested that wages of around £300,000 per-week could help tie up the transfer. The signing of Ronaldo would certainly prove a major coup for United, as Van Gaal looks to improve the side after a disastrous season under David Moyes. If United land Ronaldo for £60m then they may well break their transfer record once again. The Red Devils secured the services of Juan Mata for £37.1m in January and landed Angel di Maria for £59.7m this past summer, but the current World Player of the Year could cost them even more. Interest Manchester United may, though, have to beat their Premier League rivals in the race for Ronaldos signature. Manchester City and Chelsea have both been credited with interest in the forwardin recent time, but it remains to be seen as to whether they will make a move for the superstar in 2015. United fans, though, will certainly be hoping that Sir Alex Ferguson is able to convince Ronaldo to make a sensational return to Old Trafford in the next year.
