Alex Salmond is another of historys charismatic shysters, and Westminsters defence of the realm has been a shambles. The last ditch arrival in Scotland of the trio of tossers should hand it to the nationalists on a plate. But what of future implications? Job preferences? Criminal law and how to enforce two different interpretations of it, either side of a fragile line? The armed forces... where will their loyalties lie? Most of the boots in the British army have Scottish feet in them. In the unlikely event of military dispute between the two nations will the Ministry of Defence disband the Scottish regiments? They should perhaps be incarcerated as a risk to English national security, along with Scottish civilians residing in England, as Germans were during the war. Its all total bollocks, and the tragedy - I think - is about to unfold just to satiate one mans hunger for power. For that is what this thing is all about. Nationalism, in all its guises, has been a curse on every society it has visited.
