Alex Salmonds push for Scottish independence has stalled, - TopicsExpress

Alex Salmonds push for Scottish independence has stalled, according to a new poll that shows stagnant support for the break-up of the UK. A TNS Scotland survey, commissioned by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter, shows backing for independence stands at 41% — unchanged since January — while support for the union has remained at 59%. It suggests the Yes camp is struggling to persuade un- decided voters to back independence in the numbers needed. The proportion of this group has dropped by seven points to 22%, but has failed to produce a meaningful boost to Yes support. Political observers said the survey deals a fresh blow to Salmond’s hopes of independence, following a YouGov poll last week that suggested support for a Yes vote had slipped three points since March to 39%. thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/news/uk_news/article1431131.ece?CMP=OTH-gnws-standard-2014_07_06...
