Alexis Austin, Junior Outside Hitter, shares with Buff fans some insight from the OTC and what her experiences, past and present, have been like as she continues to strive for greatness. Hey Buff Fans! I am excited give you all and update and inside look on everything that’s been happening here at the Olympic Training Center. Over the past two years, I have traveled with the team down to Colorado Springs to train at the OTC. It has always served as a great place to get away from our normal environments, and come to a facility where some of the greatest athletes practice/compete on the daily basis. The Olympic Training Center is filled with Olympians and other USA teams… it provides such a unique and encouraging training experience to be surrounded by dedicated athletes who are chasing their own championships. I am lucky to say that this is my fourth year training at the OTC. My first two visits were during High School when I was honored with a spot on the U.S.A. Girls’ Youth National A2 Team in 2010, and then that following summer, competing on the U.S.A. Girls’ Youth National Team. The OTC is the perfect place to train for high level competition like this because you are surrounded by like-minded athletes whose caliber is truly to be admired. They give you the drive to push yourself to that caliber, and to do more than you would usually do in your own gym. This is why I am so glad that collegiately, as a team, we are able to come here and train every pre-season! Coming down here with my fellow Buffs has been a blast! I love seeing the intensity of each of my teammates, along with the team’s progression each week. We are constantly working on something new, and trying to increase our play to able to focus on every single point. As each day passes we are only getting better, and looking forward to the exciting season we have ahead! - Alexis
