Alexis was 7 when she got diagnosed with cancer. At 7 years old she was being told about the port she might need placed, the chemo and radiation she might be getting that she would probably loose her hair, that she did not get to start second grade with her friends, she couldnt play soccer this year, and that she would spend her summer and fall in the hospital and at home. At 7 what was your kid doing?!? I dont say this to sound hateful or to make anybody feel bad that they have healthy kids!! I say this just for everyone to know it happens to kids it happened to our kid and we never thought it a possibility!!! We was blessed and surrounded by praying friends and families (and strangers) and Alexis cancer was handled through surgeries. But she has went through the thought of 3 relapses, and has a 75% chance or the tumor returning!!! She went through a lot and has the scars to prove it and through it all tried so hard to be brave!!! So PLEASE help us spread awareness that childhood cancer IS NOT RARE!! Our kids deserve more funding 4% is not enough!!!
