Alfredo has worked exclusively in art since 1980. Born in Angola where he lived until the age of 15. He then relocated to Brazil where he stayed for nearly 20 years. His first job was as a designer but by the age of 20 he had begun working as a painter. He soon started exploring other artistic areas like photography, video, installation and sculpture. He created and executed The Trophy (an iron sculpture) for The V International Festival of Theatre, in Resende – Rio de Janeiro. Alfredo has made dozens of solo exhibitions in France, Germany, Spain, Brazil and Portugal and is represented in numerous private and official collections, including: MAM – Modern Art Museum (Resende - Rio de Janeiro), Bank of Macao, Diogo Gonçalves Museum (Oporto), Ouro Negro Foundation (Lisbon)... Also participated in several collective art exhibitions, Salons and International Art Fairs. He was awarded first Prize in Painting of Publicand a work of Merit in the I PortArt – International Art Fair in Portugal, 1991. He also took first Prize for his painting in the XIII Art Salon of Itatiaia – Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in 1995. In addition to this he is referenced in art editions such as Portuguese Contemporary Painting - 100 Artists - ed. Manuel de Sousa and coordinated by Ernesto Neves (2009-Portugal); Aspects of Visual Arts in Portugal – ed. FIC (1992- Portugal); The Artist and his market - ed. Adrian Publishers (1993 – Brazil) among other specialist publications. Currently Alfredo lives and works between Portugal and Germany.
