Algerias best effort in pushing Germany to extra time in the Group of 16 elimination in the drive to the quarter-finals, won many hearts and minds. As they returned home to a heros welcome, the North African teams decision to donate their World Cup prize money to the people of Gaza, as conformed by top player Islam Slimani, is even a nobler effort. When Gaza is mentioned, many should remember lots of them are school-age children who need food, clothing, medicine, transportation, shelter and basic necessities of life, and have barely enough, in spite of the ideological politics that dominate the news headlines. So, this money going to the poor in Gaza, will augment the humanitarian contributions and UN efforts that still need more support. Igonikon Jack, USA
