Alhamdulillah Ive been meeting my 13 year old niece on a weekly - TopicsExpress

Alhamdulillah Ive been meeting my 13 year old niece on a weekly basis since may. Since the beginning Ive been focusing on purpose of life and nothing more. Trying to come from different angles, whether thats through discussing how she gets along with her younger brother, how she spends her time, how she responds to difficulties etc. But one of the things that baffles me (now that i think about it) is why didnt I do this earlier? Sometimes what we may find ourselves doing is focusing on strangers more than our own family. But why? Is it because we get along with strangers more than our own family and thats why we focus more on strangers than we do our own? But should this be the basis of our dawah? Shouldnt our basis be for the sake of Allah irrespective if we get along with a person or not? And if our relationship with someone isnt positive shouldnt we make an effort to mend those relationships thereby allowing an opportunity for those same people to be receptive to our dawah. Giving us more of an opportunity for receiving gods grace for what we did for others? Its true that we will focus on someone more so who are receptive to our call than others who arent. But should that mean we neglect those who arent interested altogether? We (and especially me) need to remember that our call should be to everyone we have contact with, irrespective whether they are receptive to the call or not. The example of the nabi (saw) comes to mind that he NEVER neglected his uncle Abu talib even when he was on his death bed. Our invitation to islam should be to everyone, and this is demonstrated by the example of the nabi (saw). May Allah protect us on the day of judgment from the allegation that we didnt propagate the truth to those that we know. Ameen
