Alhamdulillah, yesterday Zain Bhikha visited the Mohamed Ebrahim Islamic School, which is founded by my mum and named after my late father. The purpose of his visit was to launch his new DVD and CD, and he performed live for the students in the school hall. So, we homeschoolers took advantage and spent the day at the school with him. The advantage was that my kids got to spend time with him personally and we even had lunch with him. I first met Brother Zain back in 2007 at the Peace Conference in Mumbai, and seven years later he is still just as humble, sweet and sincere as he was back then. He is a good role model of how to deal with fame, as it is clear in both the way he carries himself and the discussions in his new DVD that he isnt a fan of the spotlight and not interested in fame. Spending time with Zain always serves as a reminder to me to keep my ego in check and remain grounded. My kids really enjoyed the day, as did the learners from the school. Zain sang his most famous songs including all our family favorites, and the atmosphere was amazing. The children really connected with him as his lyrics focused about issues relevant to their lives. It was just really nice to see so many young kids enjoying Halal beneficial entertainment and embracing it as an alternative to the evil forms of music that are out there. May Allah accept all our efforts forgive our mistakes.
