Alive Communications Beefs Up Agent Team Hires Industry Vets Lisa Jackson and Brian Thomasson: Lisa Jackson, Associate Publisher of Tyndale Publishing House, and NavPress Senior Editor Brian Thomasson have made career transitions to become agents with Colorado Springs-based Alive Communications, the nation’s largest, most influential literary agency for faith-based and inspirational authors, announced company Founder and President Rick Christian today. “We needed to bolster our team to five full-time agents to take advantage of the incredible book, epublishing, and film opportunities coming our way,” Christian said, noting that these two simultaneous hires follow on the heels of Bryan Norman’s arrival at Alive last year from his post as Associate Publisher of Thomas Nelson. Christian and Andrea Heinecke round out Alive’s roster of agents. “Lisa and Brian are highly-connected editorial all-stars with ink in their blood and stellar reputations with authors and publishers. They both also have an innate sense of how to make good books great and the golden ability to spot bestsellers at the seed-thought stage,” he added. Lisa Jackson brings nearly 25 years of publishing experience to her new post and will relocate from the Chicago area to Colorado. She cut her editorial teeth as a local newspaper reporter and editor in North Central Illinois, learning very early on the power of the written word. After several years behind the news desk, Lisa joined the team at Christianity Today International as Associate Editor of Christian Parenting Today. In 2000, she rounded out her publishing journey with a move from magazines to books, joining Tyndale where she has served as Associate Publisher, leading the team that acquired numerous award-winning titles and New York Times bestsellers. With extensive experience in both the ABA and CBA markets, she understands the importance of helping authors find their voice and shape their message. While at Tyndale, Lisa was privileged to work directly with a long list of key authors, including Beth Moore, Tony Dungy, David Platt, Steve Saint, Tim Pawlenty, Ann Voskamp, David Jeremiah, and John Ortberg. “Alive has a long-standing history of working with the best of the best and its a huge privilege to be joining this amazing team,” said Lisa. “I look forward to working with a great group of authors at the front end of the process--helping them to shape their message and tell their stories in the most compelling way possible.” Brian Thomasson, who lives in Colorado Springs, is a passionate and creative publishing professional who brings nearly fifteen years of experience to Alive. He will also help oversee editorial operations of Alive’s sister epublishing company, Bondfire Books. He has worked on books with best-selling authors in both the general and Christian markets across a broad range of genres at a variety of innovative publishing companies. After four years as a high school English teacher, Brian began his career in the book industry at Prima Publishing, known at the time for the perennial bestsellers, What to Expect when Expecting and one of the first books about Osama Bin Laden, The Man Who Declared War on America. In 2001, Brian joined Multnomah Books and worked with an array of remarkable authors including, Albert Mohler, John Piper, Randy Alcorn, Ravi Zacharias, Joshua Harris, Dr. D. James Kennedy, Henry Blackaby, Andy Stanley, Joni Eareckson Tada, Bruce Wilkinson, Jim Daly, Mark Batterson, and Greg Laurie. In 2007, Brian began seminary studies alongside executive editorial posts at David C. Cook and NavPress, while also teaching literature and writing courses at Colorado Christian University. “I love to be at the center of the action, and the opportunity to work with brilliant people at an agency with such a stellar reputation in the industry was irresistible,” said Brian. “We’re poised to discover and develop the next generation of bestselling authors, which I find incredibly exciting.”
