All Can U Canoe guest receive a $30.00 discount on fishing trips with Hosanna Hills Guide Service Hosanna Hills Guide Service Fishing Report for Jan. 17 > > There is no plan for us at Hosanna Hills to fish today; however, lets sum up what has worked for the last few days in the event that there are those of you brave souls who will be out there this afternoon. First of all, the predicted high temperature of 34 degrees F. (wind chill of 21), should occur at 3 PM. Winds are from the WNW at 16 MPH, gusting to 22, under sunny skies. Now for what we believe should work best for trout this fine day. The trout have been biting on yellow, pink, orange and rainbow power bait eggs. They are more interested if there happens to be a wax worm on the business end of the hook. Another hint that may help increase your bite response is to select a hook that does not show when baited. We have noticed that trout are more likely to take bait from a presentation that does not show any hook. > If you are fly fishing, first, good luck casting today in this breeze! The trout seem to like the blue dun, a black or olive midge with a silver bead. Some folks have had a bit of luck using an olive micro jig. I, personally, would stick with the midges. > For the past month, spoons have worked nicely. Try blue on silver in the days with sunshine and switch to gold when overcast is the state of affairs. Early morning and later in the afternoon has worked best for us, even though we have had some success during the afternoon. If you use spinners, try a Blue Fox. > Hope this helps you capture some supper treats!
