All Here is the week 1 update for class 3067. The beginning of the week found the Trainees being issued their M4 rifle and getting their first period of instruction on the operation, maintenance, and care of their rifle. The company then executed the Confidence Obstacle Course and Conditioning Obstacle Course where they learned to overcome any uneasy feeling about height, and also learn to work together as a team. 3rd Platoon won the Confidence Obstacle Course competition while 4th Platoon won the Conditioning Obstacle Course competition. The next day found the company conducting the Team Development Course (TDC), and just as the name sounds, this was all about working together as a team. Here the Trainees work in groups and are faced with difficult but attainable challenges with minimal guidance. 4th Platoon again took honors at the Team Development Course by winning the Team Development Course competition. The day following the TDC, the company took on Eagle Tower. Eagle Tower is our Confidence Tower where the Trainees rappelled down a 60 foot wall and executed 3 separate rope bridges that required 3 different techniques to navigate successfully and then were required to climb down a 30 foot cargo net. This training was totally geared at building the Trainees confidence and allowing the Trainees to learn that they are capable of accomplishing anything. The last two days of the week will slow down a bit, where the Trainees will be getting classroom instruction on First Aid and First Responder Combat Care. At the end of the second day, the Trainees will take an exam to test their knowledge of this important task. Next week will find the Trainees taking their first of many Army Physical Fitness Tests (APFT), CBRN and the Gas Chamber Confidence Course, Land Navigation, more Rifle Marksmanship Training and Army Communications Training. As Always, we will begin and end our days with PRT (Physical Readiness Training).
