All I can say is WOW! The story that this young man tells in this youtube video is horrifying! Apparently, since my case, not too much has changed in the foster care system. I pray that this young man & his family receive the justice that they deserve. I understand that this is only one side of a very complicated story, but it brings to light a lot of important things: 1) not everyone who can pass a criminal background should be able to become a foster parent 2) in the foster care system, where theyre protecting our children, there should be transparency 3) Child protective services should be held accountable for abuse that happens in a foster home - if the abuse was brought to their attention & the child(ren) were not immediately removed from the home 4) foster parents should have to undergo extensive background checks & other evaluations, on a pre-determined basis 5) ALL children in the foster care system should have access to a therapist - theyre going through a huge change & might feel safer talking to a therapist rather than a caseworker. There are predators everywhere - people who we love, trust, know or just acquaintances - it is impossible for us to know who these predators are. We trust our instincts and hope that theyre right. It scares me to think about this... however, I hope & pray on a daily basis that the people who I am trusting to care for my children have good intentions & will keep them safe from all harm. I do not want to debate that there are good caseworkers, bad caseworkers or phenomenal caseworkers - Ive experienced all 3! I also do not want to debate that there are good foster parents, horrible foster parents or AMAZING foster parents - I have only experienced AMAZING foster parents - however you hear the stories of someones horrible experiences more than you do a good experience. https://youtube/watch?v=pRjTjqCWMbo
