All Ireland Hurling Semi Final Preview Kilkenny v Limerick, 3.30pm, Sunday, Croke Park, Referee James McGrath. Kilkenny and Limerick horns yet again in what has the makings of a classic encounter. In 2012 Kilkenny demolished Limerick with a 4-16 to 1-16 win with Henry Shefflin hitting 2-06. The interesting fact is that many of the Limerick players possibly 12-13 of them that started that day will be starting on Sunday. Kilkenny will have around 10-11 that started that day. To the game on Sunday. Kilkenny had an excellent win over Dublin in the Leinster Final. The afore mentioned Shefflin came off the bench and hit 0-3 from play in 5 minutes, while Jackie Tyrell and Brian Hogan were back to there very best. Kilkenny have 2 potential hurlers of the year in TJ Reid and Richie Hogan who have been in excellent form. If Limerick are to win stopping Hogan and Reid is key. Colin Fennelly also a major threat for the Limerick backs. It remains to be seen if Henry Shefflin will start. The real question is were Limerick that good against Wexford, or were Wexford fatigued? Honestly Limerick on the day played well but there no way there is that much of a gap between them. Wayne McNamara , James Ryan, Shane Dowling all hurled well that day. While David Breen was a constant threat for the Wexford defence. In the Limerick defence Richie McCarthy and Seamus Hickey hurled well. So what can we expect on Sunday. A physical game one suspects. If Limerick can stay with Kilkenny for 60 minutes they are in with a right chance. However, the experience and the know how to win will see Kilkenny through to an All Ireland Final against Cork or Tipperary. Kilkenny to progress by 4-5 points, Verdict: Kilkenny.
