All Ive been able to think about lately. Getting one of these eventually. Partially in protest, partially for the adventure of it. They fail to meet emissions and safety regulations but theyre excluded from a clause that allows any car to be imported 25 years after production due to a federal blacklisting. Any that are found by customs as theyre imported are immediately seized and crushed, if individual parts are found theyre confiscated too, and in the event that one is successfully smuggled into the states by parts or otherwise, homeland security actively searches for and raids the homes and businesses where theyre kept. Destroying the car wastes more net fossils fuels than the car will emit over the course of its likely lifespan and the sacrifice in safety is only suffered on the behalf of the driver and is easily offset by simple modifications. There is no sound logical foundation for why its banned.
