All Nations woolhandling The New Zealand team has made a modest start to its Golden Shears World Championships campaign in the All Nations woolhandling heats which opened the four-day event today in Gorey, Ireland There were 40 woolhandlers taking part, including all those who will take part in the World Championships woolhandling heats tomorrow. New Zealander and defending World champion Joel Henare, winner of an All Nations title in his first Northern Hemisphere outing at the Balmoral Show in Northern Ireland last Friday, qualified in fifth place for Gorey’s All Nations semi-finals on Saturday. Teammate Ronnie Goss failed to make the cut of nine, but Australian Lisa Nosworthy qualified, while her country’s two World Championships representatives missed out. All Nations woolhandling semi-finalists in order of qualification are: Kirsty Donald (Scotland), Aled Jones (Wales), Samantha Hirtle (Falkland Islands), Hilary Bond (England), Joel Henare (New Zealand), Audrey Lamb (Scotland), Leanne Bertram (Scotland), Lisa Nosworthy (Australia), Robyn Charlton (Wales).
