All Western Australian Football League (WAFL) games in Mandurah, Lathlain, Leederville and Bassendean this weekend will promote the State Government’s Count Me In vision for better access and inclusion for everyone. The Count Me In round, which has been developed in partnership between the Disability Services Commission, the WA Football Commission and the Department of Sport and Recreation, will promote the State Government’s aspiration that we all live in welcoming communities that facilitate citizenship, friendship, mutual support and a fair go for everyone. The round will include a demonstration game by integrated teams in the WA Amateur Football League, Count Me In promotional activities and giveaways and coin tosses by special guests to start league games. Disability Services Minister Helen Morton will attend the Mandurah game as a supporter and patron of the WAAFL integrated football league. “Everyone can enjoy the benefits that participation in a sports club or organisation can bring - either on the field as a player, on the sidelines supporting the team, behind the scenes fundraising or taking part in the social side of club life,” Ms Morton said. Round 21 League games start at 2.05pm with the following fixtures: Peel vs West Perth, in Mandurah; Perth vs East Perth, in Lathlain; Subiaco vs Claremont, at Leederville; and Swan Districts vs South Fremantle, at Bassendean. Teams from the WAAFL integrated football league, Kingsway and Coolbinia-West Perth, will play a demonstration match from 5pm at Medibank Stadium, Leederville. “Footy is a real passion for West Australians. The integrated football program offers these young men the opportunity to be part of that passion while also increasing their physical fitness, learning new skills and experiencing the camaraderie of a team,” the Minister said.
