All carbs are NOT the same nutritionally. The high-fiber, low-sugar carbs ( an apple ) are alot less calorie-dense than the low-fiber, high-sugar carbs ( apple strudel ). The simple carbs dont require quite as much digestion, which is why you reap a quick energy boost after eating a sweetened cereal or drinking juice.
