All countries at all points in time have always been constituted - TopicsExpress

All countries at all points in time have always been constituted by different -- and often quite alien -- cultures. In that sense, multiculturalism is not only right -- it is natural; it is unavoidable. The problem lies on what you want to preserve, that is, on the precise _content_ of a given cultural substractum. Clearly, a culture that values freedom (in practice) is _superior_, to a great extent, to a culture that favours slavery. That is why people from all over the world come to Britain or Germany in the first place instead of migrating to Iraq or Venezuela. Being afraid of classifying cultures according to objective criteria is simply to acknowledge youre out of arguments (which is to say you lack an education; sorry about being so blunt). Thus it is only natural to point out: we do not accept slavery, and therefore if you want to be a part of our culture, reject it with the same energy as we do. Principles are the only non-negotiable portion of a given culture. Everything else is indeed subject to ruthless, random historical change.
