All-day workshop on Distinguishing Invasive Plants and Native Look-A-Likes During the Growing Season. Taught by Bill Morehead and hosted by Aton Forest, Inc., 270 North Colebrook Road, Norfolk, CT 06058, on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Tuition is $75 for the 8:30AM – 5:00PM program. Learn to identify invasive plants in the field in both terrestrial and wetland ecosystems. Become familiar with native plants that may potentially be confused, and known or suspected invasive plants that are just arriving or believed to be arriving soon in this area. See links following this announcement for some examples. A brief introductory classroom session will be followed by visits to a number of field sites. In the event of weather too severe for field work, the workshop may be changed to a lab/classroom session using freshly collected specimens.
