All dogs which are picked up by the dog warden service are scanned and if they are found to be micro chipped then we contact all the national micro chipping database services immediately to try and establish an owner. We always telephone the contact numbers registered and try to re-unite the dogs as soon as possible. If the dogs are micro chipped and the phone details are out of date or the owner is not answering the call, then we post a notice out to the address that the dog has been registered to (whether this is in Hartlepool or out of town), our biggest problem is that whilst more and more of the dogs we pick up are found to be micro-chipped, quite a lot of the details are out of date. Please make sure that you update your pets details so that we can re-unite you with it as soon as possible if it is unfortunate enough to become lost.
