All good things must end and we are back to work in Esperance in preparation for Australia Day. Before leaving we paid a visit to the Fitzgerald River National Park - absolutely magnificent and well worth a look. Supported by the State Government, the Fitzgerald River National Park upgrade has significantly enhanced tourist access and amenity in this beautiful part of the world. In Ravensthorpe I was pleased to attend a meeting with the Ravensthorpe Progress Association where we discussed utility issues and the future direction for the region. Folk like these are the core of many regional communities and I thank them for their time and effort in caring for the wellbeing of the community. Thanks to coordinator Karen Campbell, MV “Mary Anne”, the generous volunteers at Hopetoun Volunteer Marine Rescue and the wonderful folk who donated a fantastic amount of $650 to the Sean Pollard Rehabilitation Appeal. Sean suffered horrific injuries when he was attacked by two sharks off Esperance in October last year. What else can you say? Not only do these guys volunteer their time protecting lives at sea but also put the yards into raising money for victims, ONYA! We trust this donation will assist toward helping Sean with the challenges he now faces and we wish him well. This guy obviously planned on a big night and not wanting to drive home, parked his ute in a safe place. Nice one.
