All hail the new maiden Mumbai Metro, a monument to how the tax-payer rupee has got screwed again, so kind of wrong to refer to it as maiden. To my question on whether it connects to the Airport in Mumbai or not, the answer Ive got is, yes, but to Airport Road. I could take a bus from Santa Cruz Airport to Nariman Point was back in the 70s, cant do so now, there isnt any. Nor will the new Mumbai Metro connect to Mumbai Airport, i am told. Indian cities that had worse public transport (road & rail) than Bombay in the 70s & 80s are now the same Indian cities that have better public transport (road & rail) than Mumbai of present day and age. One side we have BOM The other side we have DEL-CCU-MAA-HYD-BLR-AMD And, if I may add, with more equity for the common citizen. I use aviation codes because all said and done, we can and do take buses from all these airports, if we wish to, to connect to the centre of the city. Except BOM. And the reason is simple - the oil & liquid fuel mafia in and around Mumbai is unbeatable, compared to their cohorts and cousins in the other main cities of India. The brand new Mumbai Metro, all of 11.4 kms of it. I hope theyve made provisions for boats to access it, once it starts raining.
