Theres only one downside - this huge home comes with an equally huge price. Woodstock, Connecticuts Chrismark Castle might only be a decade old, but it doesnt look a day over medieval. Like any good gothic castle, the incredible building comes complete with turrets and a functioning boat, but has been updated to include all the modern amenities homeowners have come to expect. You know, like a garage for your chariot and working plumbing. Chrismark Castle sits in the middle of 354-acres of land and measures a whopping 22,000 square feet, more than enough space to do your jousting inside or out. The massive building includes eight bedrooms, a maids room, a library, ten bathrooms, a pool, and 12 fireplaces. Oh yeah, and a 1,200 foot circular kitchen with a 180-degree view of Lake Porter. You might wonder who would need such a ridiculous house, and the answer would be Christopher Mark, the great-grandson of Chicago steel tycoon Clayron Mark Senior. After sinking over four million bucks and seven years into the project, a messy divorce began the downfall of Chrismark Castle. After numerous businesses, including a modeling agency and a bed & breakfast, went bust, Mark finally gave up on his dream of living in an opulent castle, and listed the building with Coldwell Banker. If youve got the scratch, this amazing building is currently listed for $45 million, making it the perfect opportunity to live out your dreams of playing king. Or wizard. Or dungeon master... its a friggin castle, use your imagination. Just be warned - as with all great medieval castles, this one comes with its own curse: property taxes that amount to nearly $70,000 a year. Yikes.
