All is well so far, thank goodness. Mervyn had the procedure yesterday afternoon. The surgeon has successfully put in 2 stents which are now supporting 3 arteries (one is 23 mm which covers 2 arteries). The Dr is very happy with the surgery. Thank goodness he doesnt need a bypass.They will transfer him to a hospital nearer to me in Montlucon this afternoon but he will still be in intensive care and he will need to stay there at least until Monday. Then he will go to another specialist cardiac hospital for rehabilitation of his cardiac muscles which have become damaged due to the infarction he suffered on Sunday. I think that he will need to stay in the hospital there. With exercise and medication they will work to strengthen his weakened cardiac muscles. Actually, he was very tired when I left him last night and I think the reality of what might have happened if the paramedics hadnt taken him to hospital has just sunk in. The Dr said that he was very lucky it could have been fatal! Thank goodness for the French health service. Very many thanks again for all your good wishes. Hier, le chirurgien à Vichy a inséré deux stents dans ses 3 artères qui ont été bloqués, sans pontage heureusement (Angioplastie Coronaire). Il ira à lhôpital de Montluçon cet après-midi de rester pendant plusieurs jours en soins intensifs, suivi par lhôpital à Ste Feyre pour la réadaptation cardiaque. Il avait beaucoup de chance. Les équipes médicales à Montluçon et Vichy ont agi très rapidement de sauver sa vie.
