All my DIY projects shown have been created since March 31, 2013, when we moved into our new-to-us home. The new space has allowed me to think outside of the white painted walls of my prior box. More importantly, having a partner whos nature says, Lets try it! has made the biggest impact on my growth. Someone who doesnt cringe when I drag home items found on the side of the road, who will pull over when I scream, Yard sale!, who will respond with a happy heart when I call and report, The perfect piece of wood! on so-and-so cross streets, and most of all, someone who says, No big deal, if we dont like it, we can change it! As a perfectionist who craves order, that philosophy has allowed me to try. And each time I try, my fear gets a little less, my risk a little bolder. By working on the free items and thrift store finds, I am building my confidence to one day tackling those kitchen cabinets (yikes!). But I couldnt do this alone. I have Jon, who humors my endless stack of paint chips, and my parents, who have provided the canvas that is not only the kids and my security, but what has become our home, as our new family personality continues to unfold with each new DIT (Do It Together) project.
