“All my life, I’ve never had any luck with raffles, bingos, lotteries or anything. I’ve never won any prizes, medals, awards, or trophies, either. Only my mama had unbending faith that one day I would amount to something. When I was born, she took one look at me and remarked to the midwife, ‘Well he sure aint gonna bring home any trophies from a beauty contest…but I have a feeling he’ll make a good writer.’ “Well, I grew up and am still waiting for my big day. Mama even opened a Facebook account to see my comedy pieces here, but she took one look and changed her mind about me ever winning any prizes for writing comedy or anything else. “Mama, please don’t give up hope on your son. I just signed up for a singing competition. I think I stand a good chance of seeing my ship finally come in. When I practice in the shower, even the neighbors bang on the wall.
