All new to HUTC - Personal Improvement Programme (PIP) We have an exciting new Personal Improvement Programme (PIP) that all students will be involved next academic year. All students have period 7 timetabled as PIP. Sessions will run from 4.00 till 5.00pm but some groups may wish to stay longer . PIP is a programme of activities to support your child’s personal development, and will include an array of opportunities. Attendance is compulsory and PIP choices will appear on students’ timetables. Duke of Edinburgh award As part of PIP all students can use their PIP achievements to achieve a Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award. To be eligible to attend the Bronze DofE expedition in the Easter holidays students must have selected one choice from each of the three strands of PIP – volunteering, skills and physical. Students may also provide evidence any of these strands from their outside school activities. If your child does take part in a qualifying activity outside of school (e.g. swimming, learning a musical instrument, football, dance or volunteering) you will need to provide a contact person who can evidence that they have attended and developed their skills.
