All of Christs sufferings did not end when He finished His earthly - TopicsExpress

All of Christs sufferings did not end when He finished His earthly ministry. Andrew tells us that, He still takes the persecution of His people personally as is revealed by His statement to Saul on the road to Damascus: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? This is interesting, in that it dovetails with Rohrs contention about suffering as being instrumental in spiritual maturity. Rohr tells us: In Jesus’ ministry, he points again and again to this mystery of suffering. He’s saying that this is the only thing strong enough in most people’s lives, certainly men’s lives, to destabilize the imperial ego – to destabilize this “strutting” on the stage of life. This living up to who we think we are instead of collapsing back into who we already are – hidden with Christ and God, as Paul puts it.
