All of the articles in the papers and stories on the TV point out the fact that Spearfish infrastructure has not kept up with annexation and development. In fact many of these infrastructure issues were identified in 2008. We would like to put a halt to that. Vote for no annexation on the 10th of Dec. Let us meet the needs of the current city residents before we entertain the idea of annexing more land into the city. Increased tap fees should be used to increase the infrastructure before we accept requests for annexation. We need to make sure developers pay for the increased demand on the infrastructure. A separate tax district could be formed to pay for any additional city services that are being provided to residents of the 3 mile extra territorial district. There is no need to annex to recoup the costs of services that the city is providing county residents. Please Share this posting and add your comments to this post. Annexation is not the only answer!
