All of the cooking I do for friends, for folks who are sick, for those who are put in my path is a result of a lesson I learned from Chuck. I had the pleasure of being his sous chef at the lake a number of years ago. I saw the love he put in his cooking. I realized it was more than food, it was his sharing of himself and giving comfort, love, and friendship. In the winter he would cook extra oatmeal and give the people he passed on his way to work, those who were down on their luck and living on the streets, a hot breakfast. He would make his famous soups and.deliver them at night. He was the reason I began to share food. He taught me not only to cook but to share what was so freely given to.me.
