All of us at Fair Tradin’ are very excited about our next Fresh Swap event being held on Sunday, August 18. We have been invited to make our Fresh Swap a part of the Hilltop Urban Gardens’ annual Neighborhood Party HUG is a unique community gardening experiment where neighbors donate portions of their yard and help maintain the gardens, make collective decisions on the crops grown, share the produce, and contribute their skills to others in the community. While growing good food through their urban farming network is the top priority, HUG also works to develop leadership and community organizers who are able to address, educate, and advocate on issues of racial and economic justice. Fair Tradin’ believes that the path to building resilient communities is through the development of robust local food networks that creates and maintains access to high quality foods under the control of local communities. We actively seek to be affiliated with like-minded groups like HUG. Activities start at 10:30 AM with an open house and run through the end of the Fresh Swap at 3:00 PM. The event is family friendly with music, information, food, and of course, bartering. Please see the posted flyers.
