All of us free thinking types, atheists, agnostics, etc. are exactly that: free thinking. So its true that its like herding cats. To a lesser extent that is true of the Democratic Party and the left in general. Since we really believe in small d democracy, we think everyone should be heard and considered. We do not march in lockstep to authority at the top, like the right does, as it is just antithetical to our nature. We generally seek consensus and decide as a group or community. The difference in approach between the two poles is very significant as it reflects scientifically proven differences in how the brains of the two types of people process and react to information and experience.
