All of us from time to time need a hand up in life. Whether it’s - TopicsExpress

All of us from time to time need a hand up in life. Whether it’s by way of encouraging words, financially, or physically, we all need help sometimes. In Acts 3:4-8 it says, “And Peter directed his gaze intently at him, and so did John and said, look at us! And [the man] paid attention to them, expecting that he was going to get something from them. But Peter said, Silver and gold (money) I do not have; but what I do have, that I give to you: in [the use of] the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk! Then he took hold of the man’s right hand with a firm grip and raised him up. And at once his feet and ankle bones became strong and steady, and leaping forth he stood and began to walk, and he went into the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.” Each of us have gifts, talents, resources, and something that we can help people with. Just like Peter and John used what they had and that was the understanding of the power that was in the name of Jesus! You have something that can help someone else up from the level they are on. One way to keep growing is giving what you already have. When you use what you have God will give you more. Notice how they took this man with them on their way to their destination. Take people along on the way to your dream. In Acts 9:33,34 it says “Peter found a man named Aenas, who had been bedfast for eight years and was paralyzed. And Peter said to him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [now] make you whole. Get up and make your bed! And immediately [Aeneas] stood up.” There are people in your world right now that you can help get up. Maybe they have been stuck in a situation for a long time and just need a hand up. Stretch out you hand, your heart, your words, and use what you have and help them up. Not too long after this incident a lady in a town close by got sick and died. They heard Peter was close by so they asked him to come see this lady. In Acts 9:40,41 “But Peter put them all out [of the room] and knelt down and prayed; then turning to the body he said, Tabitha, get up! And she opened her eyes; and when she saw Peter, she raised herself and sat upright. And he gave her his hand and lifted her up.” The starting point to helping people get up is praying for them. You’ve probably heard the saying that you have to go down to go up. Well going down to pray is the way to get up yourself and the way to help others up. Notice how he prayed, spoke the right words, and then reached out his hand. Jesus told us to love others, praying for them, speaking to them and then reaching out your hand to help. You have what someone needs to get up. When you help someone else get up it always empowers you to get up and keep going. When you give help, encouragement, a smile, love, etc…. Jesus promises that it will be given back to you. As you grow, develop, and live a life helping others, you tap into God’s grace for your life to develop and to become who God has created you to be.
