All of us want to extend our deepest condolences and most heartfelt prayers to the entire Ward family as they mourn the loss of their racing Patriarch. Bud Ward was an accomplished racer and father. He raised his son Pat with the competitive edge of a champion and stood by his side throughout his career. While Bud was wrenching on Pats cars his wife could be found in the stands cheering for their son Pat. Buds nephew Mike and great niece Hillary have also enjoyed the Ward racing gene. Families like the Wards make this sport worth participating in, and Buds departure will be felt by countless family members, friends, and fans. As one person whos enjoyed their warmth and companionship throughout my career as a Finish Line Chaplain I can only say how grateful I am to have known Bud personally. I share in the Apostle Pauls sentiment that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and Im confident His peace will be with everyone in this period of grief and sorrow. Revelation 14:13 Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”
