All public school parents - pre K funding is being attached to a resolution that would strip the Mayor of any decisions regarding co-location of charter schools. Statewide all public schools would be forced to surrender space free of charge to nonprofit Wall Street run charters. It is like Sophies Choice - which educational policy will the Mayor have to choose? Please call Governor Coumo at 518-474-8390 and tell him to stop favoring one group of students over another and to fiscally and philosophically support free and equal education where no child is turned away. Call Senators Skelos and Klein and tell them to remove this string to the pre K funding at 518-455-2800 and that Sheldon Silver at 518-455-8390 for standing up for all students equally. I am appalled by this play for pay move by our political leaders. The Governor has accepted over $900,000 in contributions from charter lobbies. Amazing how they were all for Mayoral control when they agreed with the Mayor. De Blasio won - he deserves the same respect to carry out the platform he ran on. Please call no matter if your child is touched by this now or not. If this goes through they will be soon.
