All right Pocketeers are you ready? Where did we leave off? Oh yes our friend had stumbled on a mansion settled in a valley...I did backtrack a bit, then continued on....because I wrote so much last night and this morning I will do this in parts to catch you all up...So without any further gilding the lily as the saying goes...here we go! xoxox Rev. Donna To Love A Vampire Part 2 "With lightening speed he trudged through the bramble and trees ignoring his growing hunger that burned within his body. It rose and surged in every cell. He slowed his pace as he neared the edge of the forest. Listening to the sounds of the night. The singing of crickets, the wind rustling the leaves, night creatures seeking food, the distant howling of a wolf, and a cry of an owl. Had he lost the scent the further he went as he inhaled the autumn breeze again? No there it was. He stepped out of the forest and stood on the edge of a mountain cliff overlooking a vast valley. Snuggled within the surrounding mountains was a splendid mansion. Even in the dim light he could still see the road was overgrown with trees and vines making the road impenetrable. Its magnificent architecture subjected to many years of apparent neglect. What he was surprised at was its location. Nestled between the forest, the mountains on two sides, and what appeared to be lake, but for the overgrown weeds and other foliage alongside the western side and a line of oaks he couldn’t really tell. It seemed to be an area not visibly accessible. What secrets lay inside this mysterious place? As he stood there listening, and observing, he was aware the scent was stronger. He was also aware of other smells; must and decay…even the scent of death seemed to linger in the air surrounding the place. It was certainly a place to be if one wanted to attain solitude because of its isolation from the nearest town, and even passing travelers on the main road. He doubted it could even be seen from the road since he had been a frequent visitor in the town for years and hadn’t even known it was there. Unable to resist, he went on ahead to get a closer look. It was only upon entering the grounds and nearing the place he noticed a dim light in a room on its one of its upper floors. The mansion was far bigger than it first appeared. He wandered around the outside of the building reveling in its interesting mix of Tudor and French architecture, the grounds carefully laid out in a country setting with a mix of wild roses, perennials, and flowering trees that had been left to just wither and die from lack of care. Threadbare draperies faded by sunlight could be seen through the broken windows some of which were just blowing freely in the wind while still attached to the rod. Even the steps leading to the massive door in the front of the building was crumbling in ruin. How grand this place must’ve been in its day he thought to himself as he searched for a way in."
