All season long, the Dallas Mavericks are probably one of the most underrated teams in the NBA. Yes, they have there ups-and-downs like every another team, but what Dallas does every night is fight till the very end, and last night against one of the best teams in the NBA, they proven that regardless of what seeding they could be in the playoffs, they are going to be a tough out in the postseason. Dallas pretty much has, had to play with a sense of urgency all season long, if they were going to have a chance at the postseason. The Mavericks may not be a great defensive ball club, but what they do have is experience, veterans, leaders that could be critical for a possible playoff spot. Dallas is battling out Phoenix and Memphis for 2 of the final playoffs spots in the Western Conference, so the win over the Thunder last night, made it an important key victory. PG Jose Calderon has been a great pickup for the Mavericks this season, great passer, one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA, and he can be trusted to hit a clutch shot as well. Calderon scored 16 of 22 points in the 1st half, but it was his clutch 3-pointer that helped set the game into overtime, where the Mavericks ended up getting the victory. Calderon had 22 points while shooting 7-10 from the field, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, 6-9 from 3-point land and 2-2 from the free-throw line. Dallas has always had to count on Superstar Veteran PF Dirk Nowitzki to make key plays down the stretch, so last night against Oklahoma City, it was no sweat for the big man out of Germany to hit a clutch shot. Nowitzki had 32 points while shooting 11-23 from the field, 4 steals, 6 assists, 10 rebounds, 2-8 from 3-point land and 8-8 from the free-throw line. Nowitzki was doing a little bit of everything for the Mavs, he was incredible and magnificent, making solid passes, getting key rebounds and knocking down clutch shots in order for the Mavericks to have a shot at winning the game. Nowitzki had a vintage performance against Oklahoma City, scoring 32 points, and 22 of those 32 points came in the 2nd half. Nowitzki scored 7 points in overtime, including a game-clinching 3-pointer, that helped Dallas get the 128-119 Overtime Victory. Dallas improved to 42-29, while the Thunder fell to 52-19. Nowitzki helped set the tone right away for the Mavericks in the 1st quarter, scoring 8 of his 10 first half points. PG Jose Calderon, was pretty solid as well, scoring 5 points, as Dallas had the early lead on Oklahoma City. First, Nowitzki makes a great move to the basket, throwing down a slam dunk, then Nowitzki finds SF Shawn Marion for the wide-open 3-pointer. Nowitzki makes a pass to Calderon for the running layup, then Calderon sets himself up, burying a 3-point basket. Nowitzki buries the two-point jumper, then Calderon finds Nowitzki for the layup basket. Nowitzki knocks down two free-throws, then Nowitzki dishes a great pass to Marion for the easy reverse layup, as the Mavericks take a 28-24 lead into the 2nd quarter. Nowitzki doesnt score as much, only making two free-throws, but he continues to make timely plays and Calderon begins to catch fire from 3-point land, as the Thunder have a lead at halftime. First, Nowitzki finds SF Jae Crowder for the easy layup, then C Samuel Dalembert dishes the pass to Calderon for the 3-point field goal. Marion makes a pass to Calderon for another 3-pointer, then Calderon returns the favor to Marion and finds him for the easy slam dunk. Nowitzki finds Marion for the bucket in the paint, then Nowtizki knocks down two free-throw. Calderon sets himself up for another 3-pointer, then Calderon dishes the pass to SG Vince Carter for the wide-open 3-pointer. Calderon makes two free-throws, as the Thunder had a 60-59 halftime. Nowitzki with an excellent 2nd half, scoring 22 of his 32 points, including a couple of key baskets down the stretch of this playoff-like atmosphere type of game. Calderon doesnt score as much in the 2nd, but he continues to make timely critical plays. First, Calderon dishes a pass to Nowitzki for the turnaround jumper, then Calderon finds Nowitzki again for the two-point jumper. Calderon finds SG Monta Ellis for the floating basket, then Ellis gets another pass from Calderon, but this time for the two-point jumper. Ellis makes a pass to Nowitzki for the 3-point field goal, then Calderon finds Dalembert for the easy slam dunk. Nowitzki with a great pass to Dalembert for another slam dunk, as the Thunder had an 89-84 lead going into the 4th quarter. Nowitzki continues with his strong 2nd half, scoring 8 points in the 4th quarter, Calderon buries a clutch jumper, as the Mavericks and Thunder would go into overtime. First, Nowitzki buries the step-back jumper, then Nowitzki makes two free-throws. Nowitzki makes a strong move into the basket, scoring the driving layup, then Nowitzki knocks down the fadeaway jumper. PF/C Brandon Wright gets the offensive rebounds, then makes the quick pass to Calderon for the game-tying 3-pointer, as the Thunder and Mavericks would go into overtime tied at 111. Nowitzki takes over the game in the overtime, scoring 7 points, Calderon with another clutch 3-pointer, as the Mavericks would built a lead over Oklahoma City in overtime. First, Nowitzki makes two free-throws, then Calderon gets a pass from Ellis for the wide-open 3-pointer. Nowitzki knocks down the step-back jumper, then Nowitzki buries the game-clinching 3-pointer, as the Mavericks would get the 128-119 Overtime Victory. Nowitzki and Calderon had huge impacts in the game, but Dallas had 5 other players in double-figures, who great impacts of there own. SG Monta Ellis had 17 points while shooting 6-15 from the field, 4 steals, 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 5-7 from the free-throw line. SG Vince Carter while shooting 4-11 from the field, 2 steals, 5 rebounds, 4-9 from 3-point land and 4-6 from the free-throw line. SF Shawn Marion had 11 points while shooting 5-11 from the field, 2 assists and 6 rebounds. SF Jae Crowder had 10 points while shooting 4-6 from the field, 3 rebounds and 2-4 from 3-point land.
