All seeds have the potential for growth; however every seed does - TopicsExpress

All seeds have the potential for growth; however every seed does not produce fruit. The reason for that has to do with the conditions of the environment surrounding the seed. The healthy growth of a seed is dependent on favorable environmental conditions. The seed must have an adequate amount of warmth; enough moisture; and a good supply of oxygen to grow. In addition to these factors the seed must be secure from creatures that may consume it as nourishment. It is interesting that Jesus used the seed metaphor to communicate many notions about the kingdom of God as it pertains to growth and development. From his teachings we learn that the word of God works very similar to a seed. When the word of God is planted in favorable conditions it has the potential for awesome results. In all of his teachings we find that the heart is the ground in which the seed is planted. If the heart is ready and receptive, the seed is able to germinate and bear fruit that reveals the reality of God’s kingdom in one’s life. From this we see good reason for being seed planters. We have no power to make the seed grow; but we have the power to be planters and caregivers of the seed. If we plant and water, I’m sure that God will give the increase! ~Ervin C. Jackson, Ph.D.
