All the talk about ALS made me think of this guy, Jason Becker, an awesome guitarist from the speed metal days in the late 80s/early 90s. He was in a band with Marty Friedman called Cacophony. After Marty went to Megadeth, Jason Becker replaced Steve Vai in David Lee Roths band, and shortly after developed a lazy limp. He switched to lighter-gauge strings to finish recording an album, because his hands were too weak. Not only was he unable to go on tour, he was wheelchair-bound that year. Thankfully, thanks to specialized software, hes still composing music, and the original diagnosis, back in 1991, said that hed only live five years at the most. Hes immobile and breathing through a tube. Anyway, its not like I know the guy or anything, its just always struck me as tragic that such a talent was taken right at the beginning of his career. And all these knuckleheads dumping icewater on themselves are helping guys like that. https://youtube/watch?v=XH9igerT86g
