All the time I get asked why in the world would I teach my dogs to bite someone for fun. People say that it is dangerous and I calmly explain to them why it is actually not dangerous. Some people dont want to listen as they are so very set in their beliefs (we all have beliefs that may make us a little blind to reason) An example of how a well trained protection dog is NOT a threat to any well meaning person (and also why RB can do protection work AND therapy work and the wonderful people in HABIT are supportive of him) One of our helpers has a young son (10-12 years) who has been coming to the protection field as long as I have known them. Every week they come he likes to catch a dog on a sleeve with his fathers help. Today we got Ricky out to let him catch Ricky Bobby. We set RB up, got him agitated and ready to play, gave him the command and he ran up to the little boy and sat down then looked at us to say Hey you idiots, you broke the game... You dont put KIDS in the bite sleeve..... So no, I dont believe my protection trained dog is dangerous......
