All this talk about suicide is a choice, and he didnt die from mental illness, he died because he wanted to, and suicide is selfish, no its not, yes it is, I think were missing the bigger point. The bigger point is EMPATHY. What *I* THINK about that person over there and their struggles doesnt matter, because that person isnt ME. And those struggles arent MINE, and no matter how much I try to understand what went through Robin Williams head before he hung himself I wont ever be able to. I cant understand, but I can try. What YOU go through and struggle with I can never understand, but I can try. I can empathize. I can put myself as close to in your shoes as I can be, feel you as you feel, and hold you tight as you feel it. I wonder how many people would choose to save themselves if they knew they werent alone. If they felt, even for one second, that down in that deep, dark, hole of Nothing, there was someone else there. Mental illness is a real thing. People choosing to end their own life is a real thing.
