All to often I forget to than the ones whove helped me through these past few months behind the scenes. Its not that I dont feel an immense amount of gratitude, because I do, more than anyone could imagine. So, for those whove Ive let help me with the seemingly simple things, (Ive never been one to ask and willingly accept help when offered, Im a pain in the ass like that...) like doing my laundry, coming down to the hospital every single day just so that I could take a break from it all, taking the day shift and allowing me to do nightshift so Chase was never alone, for all the people at work who took up my duties, for knowing when to flag me and when to tell me to buck up. For my sister, who was as stubborn and sure as I felt in the very beginning. For my brother, who kept sending me movie trailers knowing how much I loved them, and knowing how much I needed normalcy. For my dad, who spent two hours in rush hour traffic each night just to spend a few hours with us...& for taking the brunt of my horrible moods. For my aunt and uncle who drove down on multiple occasions just to be our comic relief. And most especially for my mother. The truth is, we wouldnt be here right now if it werent for her. I dont know how anyone who doesnt have at least some medical background would ever make it in the PICU. Thank you mom, for spending every single day and night with us. Thank you for your time, your energy, your support, your telling me to stop hiding under the covers and go over to your son. He needs you (the first few days I did i fact hide, until my mom ripped the covers off my head and pointed a very stern looking finger in my face... I never hid again) thank you for getting our house in order and helping me with his diet. For us, this journey is long from over. But for now, thank you, thank you thank you, thank you. Please dont ever think I dont know that I owe you all everything. Thank you.
