All welcome to the following seminar this Tuesday! New Caledonia after the May 2014 Polls Date and time: Tuesday 13th May 2014, 2pm. Venue: Alan MacDiarmid Building, Room 103, Kelburn Campus, New Caledonia’s territorial elections on May 11th 2014 are of considerable significance for the future of this Pacific Island polity. The newly elected government will preside over a referendum, to be held between 2014-19, which will decide on whether or not New Caledonia becomes independent from France. Three speakers from New Caledonia will look at the outcomes of the election, the balance between pro- and anti-independence parties, and consider future options, as New Caledonia moves toward its referendum.
