Allaahu Akbar ! Huguette Disasi This is close to my heart. I am a first generation hailing from Democratic Republic of Congo. My father encouraged my mom to pursue higher education and a career in America. My mother earned her degree and went on to a successful career in the medical field. My father unfortunately died from cancer when my mom was 48. As a 48 year old widow she single-handedly continued to raise me and my 3 siblings, worked to support us, put us through college and even some of her siblings kids. She is the strongest woman I know. This would have not been possible without the support of my father who treated her as an equal not an inferior. I have this example to live by; My mother raised a future physician (Im in med school), a US soldier, a business woman, and a current college freshman. You are right Mama, show them what Congolese women are capable of. With support we can move mountains. The children will succeed. My siblings and I are living proof of that.
